I think the giver was awesome because this book makes you think. It dosen't tell you everything obviously so you have to find the meaning. Those are the type of books that challenge how I think the world is and what is wrong. The Giver was an awesome book and I am sad that it has ended.
understandable-but I'm really surprised at how many people think THIS is TERRIBLE. i don't think it was that bad! Looking at the world at a futuristic point is a great idea.
i thought the book was pretty good.it wasnt awesome because of the reason it was banned in some places- the injected deaths.this book was great to show what we could be missing in the future. but it got me thinking- will the future be that sheltered?
I actually don't like the book. The idea just wasn't interesting to me and neither was the book really. I prefer something where there is explicit drama, crying, emotional fights, and angst. I like stories where the female main character goes through pain, agony, and self-abuse while the male lead tries to say he's sorry for breaking her heart. A storyline where a boy runs off because he's discovered emotion is just plain...I wouldn't say terrible but not exactly...the best...in my opinion.

I myself said just ok. It's good, but i personally don't like the ending.
Hmmm...for me, it's O.K. because I don't like th ending. (It was too sudden...)
the book teaches you about how other people might be living in some parts of the world. it gets you thinking
it was sooooooooooooooooooooo sad!
i like the book but hate the ending
i wish it would actually explain what happened to jonas and gabe
The Giver was a pretty awesome book but the subtle way that Lois Lowry told the story made it kind of confusing and the story plot was depressing
